Flight ♦ Tarrif ♦ Visa ♦ Discounts ♦ Delay ♦ Bank Address INTERNATIONAL TOURIST TARIFF International Tourist Tariff is set by the Royal Government of Bhutan and is valid for all-inclusive packages. ![]() The tariffs for tourists visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follows: • High Season: Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct, Nov: US$200 / per person per night. • Low Season: Dec, Jan, Feb, Jun, July, Aug: US$165 / per person per night The rates are the same for cultural tours, treks or any other special interest tours. ENTITLEMENTS These minimum daily package rates are inclusive of the following services: 1. Accommodation on twin sharing basis 2. All transfers and sightseeing within Bhutan 3. Services of accompanied guide 4. All meals 5. 35% royalty & taxes to the government 6. Riding ponies and pack animals on treks 7. Fees to temples & monuments
The rates given above are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan. On the day of departure, the local agent's obligation shall be limited to breakfast only and any extra requirement shall be payable on actual basis.
The above rates apply uniformly irrespective of locations and the type of accommodation provided/asked for. These accommodation establishments shall be approved by TAB. TARIFF FOR INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL GROUPS (FITs) Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharges, as follows: • Single Individual: US$ 40/ per night halt • Group of 02: US$ 30/ per person per night halt • These FIT surcharges are net payable (non commissionable) • All tourists are required to pay US$ 10 per visit as Tourism development contribution. AGENCY COMMISSION As per international norm, 10% of the gross tour payment shall be payable to the principal agents abroad as commission and shall be deducted by these agents at source. DISCOUNT on tourist tariff
1. DIPLOMATS from foreign embassies/missions accredited to Bhutan shall be given a 25% discount on the daily rates.
2. There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the ages of 6 to 12 years accompanied by elders/guardians shall be given a 40% discount on daily rates. 3. Full time Students below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates. 5. A discount of 10% on the daily rates shall be provided for halts between 11 to 20 nights and 20% discount on halts beyond 21 nights. Visitors availing discounts under section a. b. c. shall not be eligible for discount under e. CANCELLATION Tour Programs booked and subsequently cancelled shall be subject cancellation charges as follows:- 1. Within 30 days of the start of the tour programme: Free 2. Within 21 days: 10% of the rate 3. Within 14 days: 15% of the rate 4. Within 7 days: 30% of the rate 5. Less than 7 days or cancellation without notice: 50% of the rate 6. After arrival in Bhutan: 100% DELAYED ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE
1. There shall be no fixed charge for the number of days of delay in arrival of visitors due to weather conditions, Druk Air problems or road blocks except for minimum charge on hotel cancellation, transport & guide.
2. There shall be no charge for the number of days of delay in departure of visitor due to weather conditions, Druk Air problems or roadblocks. They will be charged only the actual expenses on accommodation, food transport and any other services required. SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENTS The quoted package rates are valid for accommodation on twin sharing basis and following supplements will be applicable in case of single room accommodation:- » Festival season = US$ 50 / per single room per night » Other season = US$ 25 / per single room per night REMITTANCE OF TOUR PAYMENT
Tour payment must be settled one month prior to date of arrival in Bhutan and VISA is cleared by the government subject to advance payment only.

Entire tour payment must be sent to Bhutan Enigma Tours and Treks by Bank transfer, in advance as time period specified: - » For FITs: 60 days advance » For GITs: 60 days advance » For Festival Tours: 90 days advance (Services are confirmed subject to advance payment only.) For high seasons (March, April, May, Sept, Oct, Nov) it is advisable to remit payment for Druk Air flights 3 months advance. This will help us in getting you seats confirmed. VISA
All foreign tourists entering the kingdom of Bhutan require a visa which is processed and arranged by us. The duly filled visa application form must be sent to us at least three weeks before the intended date of arrival in order to process it with the concerned authorities. You can download the PDF-form from here and fax/mail us the completed visa form. A two weeks visa costs US$20, which can be further extended for an additional fee of US$15. All tourists have to bring three copies of original passport size photographs as required by the immigration authorities at the entry points. For travellers entering Bhutan by Druk Air, the visa clearance number is forwarded to the concerned overseas Druk Air stations, without which the passengers to be allowed to board the flight. A visa clearance number is also required during the issuance of Druk Air tickets. For travellers entering the country by surface through Phuentsholing, the visa is stamped on arrival at the Foreign Ministry’s branch office in Phuentsholing. Please note that Bhutanese embassies and missions abroad do not grant Bhutan tourist visas.
CUSTOM
The Bhutanese authorities strictly monitor the export of any religious antiquities or antiques of any kind from the kingdom. Upon arrival, a custom declaration form is given where you should list any expensive equipments that you are carrying such as camera, computers and personal electronic equipment. You must return the form, and may be asked to show the items listed when you leave the country.
Duty-free allows two litres of alcohol to be imported into the kingdom. CURRENCY
The unit of currency in Bhutan is the Ngultrum (Nu.) which is at par with the Indian Rupee. One Ngultrum equals 100 Chetrum. The Ngultrum notes can be found in the denominations of NU. 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 and the coins in the form of Chetrum 25, 50 and Nu. 1. Travellers are advised to carry their money in the form of travellers cheques (preferably American Express), international credit cards which are accepted in some of the hotels and tourist shops. Some cash might be needed to meet the incidental expenses. The two banks in Bhutan; the Bank of Bhutan and the Bhutan National Bank accepts few major currencies such as the US Dollar, the Pound and the Euro. ACCOMODATION Bhutan has a wide range of hotels to accommodate you. All standard and fancy hotels have rooms elegantly decorated in traditional Bhutanese decor. Whether you stay in a simple hotel or in a fancy one, it will be a lifetime experience to cherish. The cool fresh evenings, void of any noise pollution makes your stay even more memorable.
All hotels, lodges, and guest houses selected by Bhutan Enigma have been approved by the Department of Tourism which have been rated as standard for tourists. The hotels in the west are more comfortable and equipped with facilities such as IDD, fax, internet facilities and so on, while, as one tends to move towards the central and eastern region, the hotels are simple and offer minimum facilities. With the liberalization of the FDI in 2002, two luxury resorts have come up, namely Aman Kora and Uma Paro for select guests willing to pay premium rates.
FLIGHT INFORMATION
For travellers entering Bhutan, you can either come in by Druk Air or by road through the border town Phuentsholing. Druk Air, Bhutan’s national carrier and the only airline, has a fleet of two Airbus - 319s aircrafts. Druk Air flies twice weekly to and from Delhi via Kathmandu and three times weekly to Bangkok via Kolkata. To allow for extra visitors during the peak season (especially during the Paro Tshechu in April and the Thimphu Tshechu in October), the airline provides additional flights.
