Day 1 – ARRIVE AT PARO
Arrive at Paro by Druk Air, Bhutan’s National Carrier. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by representatives of Bhutan Enigma. Transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu. Day 2 - THIMPHU Morning visit to the Textile Museum and the Handicrafts Emporium. After lunch-visit to the Kesang Handloom Centre. Day 3 - THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA After breakfast drive to Punakha via the Dochula pass. Stopover at Chimi Lhakhang en-route to Punakha. This Lhakhang was built by Lam Drukpa Kuenley popularly known to the west as “the Divine Madman”. Bhutanese people believe that if a childless woman visit the Lhakhang and receive blessing from the Lama’s thunderbolt, she will conceive and bear children. Visit Punakha dzong built on the junction of two rivers. Lam Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel built this fortress on the tip of the ridge which resembles a sleeping elephant. The dzong serves as a winter residence for the central monastic body. Day 4 - PUNAKHA TO BUMTHANG Visit the Trongsa dzong and Ta dzong en-route to Bumthang. Day 5 - BUMTHANG Visit the Yathra handloom centre. Yathra are rich colored clothes woven from finest sheep wools and dyed in indigenous method. Trip to various monasteries and the “Mebar Tsho” (the burning lake). One can choose to go to the Khaling weaving centre in the east but that would take an extra three days. Day 6 - BUMTHANG TO GANGTEY After breakfast, drive to Gangtey Gompa monastery, one of the oldest seat of Nyingmapa sect in the western Bhutan. Stay at the picturesque Phobjikha valley, a well known winter habitat of the endangered black-necked crane. Our guest can choose to stay at Phobjikha either at a guesthouse or camp outside in the open air. Day 7 - GANGTEY TO PARO Sightseeing in Paro which includes visit to the National Museum and other historical places of interest. Day 8 - DEPART FROM PARO Have early breakfast in the hotel and drive to the airport for flight to onward destination. Our representative will help you with all the necessary formalities. |
