Gasa Trek

The Gasa trek is one of the easiest treks in Bhutan. It starts from Damji to Gasa and back to Damji. Gasa is very popular for its hot springs which has medicinal values. Taking a dip in these hot springs is refreshing and supposed to cure our minor aliments. The water temperature is around 40 degree celsius which is  comfortably warm. The trek will take you through rural villages and thick forested valleys. The hike from hot spring to the Gasa Dzong adds more excitement to this trek. This trek is best undertaken from February to April and from October to December.

Day 1 – ARRIVE AT PARO
Arrive at Paro by Druk Air, Bhutan’s National Carrier. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by representatives of Bhutan Enigma. Take a stroll in the evening and visit the Paro town.

Day 2 – PARO
Drive to Drukgyal dzong, now in ruins, built by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyal in 1649. The dzong was built to celebrate the victory over Tibetan invasion and was for long the gateway fortress of the northern region. On the way back, see the bird’s eye view of the sacred Taksang Monastery perched on a steep rocky cliff amidst the pine forest. The Kichhu Lakhang, the Ta-dzong and the Rinpung dzong also offers pleasant views just as they hold a special place in the heart of the religion of the Kingdom.

Day 3 – PARO - THIMPHU
Sightseeing at Thimphu includes visit to the National Library, the folk heritage museum, the Painting School, the Handicrafts Emporium, the Textile Museum, the Memorial Chorten, and the spectacular view of Thimphu valley from Sangaygang.

Day 4  – THIMPHU to PUNAKHA
Short stop at Dochula café to view the magnificent Himalayan mountain ranges and see the spectacular example of Bhutanese architecture in the hundred and eight Chortens built at Dochula.  

Day 5  – PUNAKHA to DAMJI
En-route to Damji you can view the glorious Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten perched on the hilltop overlooking the rural hamlets and paddy fields. Visit to this splendid work of art can be arranged on the return journey of the trek.

Day 6  – DAMJI to TSACHU

Day 7  – EXCURSION TO GASA DZONG

Day 8  – TSACHU to DAMJI

Day 9  – DAMJI to PUNAKHA

Day 10 – PUNAKHA to PARO

Day 11– AIRPORT FOR DEPARTURE
Have early breakfast in the hotel and drive to the airport for flight to onward destination. Our representative will help you with all the necessary formalities.
